Lydia G. Perez, 84, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Nick Gerber officiating, burial to follow mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Service and arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 4:00- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M. We ask that you please wear a mask provided by you if attending viewing, rosary, or mass.

Lydia was born on March 3, 1937 to George and Adela (Trevino) Gander in Sonora, Texas. She has been a resident of Hereford for 70 years. She married Armando Perez in 1957.  Lydia worked as a care giver for home health. In her younger days she worked at the EB Black House and took care of Mr. Black. Lydia loved to take care of people including friends and family, it was not just her job but an honor.  She would give you the shirt of her back if you asked for it. She was very generous. She was a member of La Mision de San Jose and served as a Guadalupana and was active in De Los Colores. She later became a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Lupe, loved to dance and to shop at Dillard's.

Those left to cherish her memories are husband Lupe Salazar of Hereford, TX., children Elsa Alonzo and her husband Rudy of Edinburg, TX., Debra Cabezuela and her husband Ernest, Gerald Perez and his wife Janie, Daphne Mariscal and her husband Israel all of Hereford, TX., Teresa Reyes and her husband Danny of Deming, NM., Nathan Perez and his wife Tracey of Austin, TX., step-daughter Carol Ortiz of Bovina, TX., sister Beatrice Gander of Houston, TX., thirty-one grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Lydia is preceded in death by her parents George and Adela Gander, late husband Armando Perez, son Armando "Sonny" Perez, Jr., grandson Paul Aaron Perez, and stepson Lupe Salazar, Jr.
