Lydia Ortiz, 93, lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Lydia was born on September 10, 1928, in Lockhart, Texas to Jesus and Sabina (Ureste) Galvez. She married Guadalupe Ortiz, Sr. Lydia was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her husband and nine children. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, a Cursillista, and was faithful in her prayers. Lydia enjoyed making hand sewn blankets, gardening, dancing, taking care of her cats, and time spent with family. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and a great cook.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Romelia Ortiz, Guadalupe Ortiz, Jr., Rebecca Ortiz, Rosario Reyna and her husband Eddy, all of Hereford, Texas, Robert Ortiz, and his wife Ruby of San Antonio, Texas, David Ortiz of Canyon, Texas, Ofelia Zamora and her husband George of Hereford, Texas, and Jesus Ortiz of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren that she raised, Jennifer Vigil, Baltamore Vigil, and Amanda Vigil; seventeen grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Frank Galvaz of California; and sister, Esther Galvez of Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guadalupe Ortiz, Sr.; son, Ernesto Martinez; daughter, Lydia Vigil; and four siblings.
