Luz Hernandez, 100, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in Hereford, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Nestor Lara officiating, burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hereford, TX. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, TX. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the funeral home from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with rosary to begin at 6:00 P.M.  A mask is encouraged if attending the viewing or rosary and required if attending mass.

Luz was born on July 6, 1920 in La Pieda Michoacán, Juanajuato, Mexico to Santiago and Conchita Palomino. She married Felipe T. Hernandez. Luz was a homemaker and took great pride in taking care of her family and raising fifteen children. She was dedicated to her faith and family. Luz was a member of San Jose Catholic Church, served as a Crusillista and faithfully prayed the rosary. She liked listening to her church music especially, De Colores and enjoyed watching novelas and western movies on the grit channel. She enjoyed cooking and the time spent fellowshipping and visiting with her family. Luz loved to hold her grandchildren and have long conversations on the phone with her family. She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Linda Romo, Erminia Mungia and her husband Anselmo Sr., Lisa Garcia and her husband Thomas Sr., Maria Gonzalez and her husband Fidel, Carmen Lopez, Felipa Avila and her husband Moyceis, Maria DeLaLuz and her husband German, and Rosa Gonzalez and her husband Frank, sons Juan Hernandez and his wife Felipa, Juan Felipe Hernandez and his wife Sylvia, and Emilio Hernandez and his wife Monica all of Hereford, Texas, forty-four grandchildren, eighty-one great grandchildren, and twenty-nine great -great grandchildren.

Luz has joined her parents, husband Felipe, daughters Josephina Tapia and Guadalupe Hernandez, and sons Pedro Hernandez and Ramon Hernandez in heaven.
