Lois Carol (nee Brown) Scott, a long-time resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. There will be a private family graveside.  Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Hereford, with Craig Solomon as officiant. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.  Viewing will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Lois was born on October 27, 1930, in Wray, Colorado, to Dorothy B. Anderson Donovan and Gail Mayfield Brown. She graduated from Wray High School with the class of 1948, a class of 45 students, and then attended Colorado A&M (now CSU) in Ft. Collins, CO, where she was president of her sorority Delta Zeta. It was in college that she met a tall, handsome young man, Paul R. Scott from Alberta, Canada. They married in Wray, Colorado, June 21, 1953.

With Paul's employment with the Holly Sugar Corporation, Lois and Paul lived in Worland, Wyoming; Forsyth, Montana; and Sidney, Montana; before moving with their four little girls to Hereford in 1963.

Lois and Paul were active members of the First United Methodist Church of Hereford. Lois taught Sunday school and enjoyed ringing the bells in the ladies' bell choir, where she enjoyed great camaraderie with fun road trips on the bus and times filled with lots of laughter!

Lois loved her family and took great care to teach them "the right way" to approach life; she was very particular about the right way to clean house and do laundry. She was a strict disciplinarian and emphasized hard work, obedience, and honesty. She was a sports-minded woman, who loved to laugh and play bridge. Countless card games were played with Papa and her grandchildren.

She enjoyed long-lasting friendships in her social clubs P.E.O. and Bay View Study Club. Her bridge club friendships were a great source of merriment!

Lois had a host of amazing friends who supported her, brought her to luncheons, bridge club, and hair-dressing appointments. In the last few years, when it became difficult for her to attend church, she looked forward to Sundays when they could watch the First United Methodist Church service online together and she would often remark that she missed attending regular church.

I n the past fifteen months, since moving to the Legacy at Town Square in Amarillo, Lois and Paul were blessed to attend church with grandchildren, great grandchildren, and meals after church.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and cousins of Wray, CO, and daughter Michele "Shelly" Scott.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Paul Scott; stepsister Dottie Adamson of Tempe, Arizona; daughters, Karen Young and her husband Dr. Scott Young of Little Rock, Arkansas; Judy Solomon and her husband Craig Solomon of Vega, Texas; and Barbara Scott of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Dr. Seth Solomon and his wife Lindsay of Amarillo, Texas; Dr. Bethany Schilling and her husband Dr. Beau Schilling of Bushland, Texas; Eliza Carol Young of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Alex Young and his wife Catarina of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Julie Young of Little Rock, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Amaris, Asher, Adelyn, Paige, Brynn, and Daniel.

The family would like to acknowledge the nurses and staff at the Legacy; Hospice nurses and caregivers Debbie and Janis; and Autumn, our special MICU nurse at BSA.
