Lloyd Wayne Thomas, 78, of Hereford entered into heaven on July 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel in Hereford. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Visitation and Viewing will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. – 8 :00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Lloyd was born June 2, 1945, in Lamesa, TX to Opal Stephens Thomas and Albert Thomas. Lloyd was raised in Olton & Dimmitt.

He met the love of his life, Sandra Vaught. They were married March 10, 1967, in California. Lloyd became a United States Marine during Vietnam War times. He completed his service as an E-6. Lloyd and Sandra returned to Hereford, Texas afterwards and have called it home since.

Lloyd was a man of great knowledge. He influenced not only the lives of his children and grandchildren but also the lives of many friends along the way. There wasn't a project he wasn't willing to take on. He was a proficient machinist and wood worker. In his "spare time", Lloyd enjoyed remodeling and building with his sons, grandsons and special friends. He ran a tight project site, measuring everything down to the thousandth. He never stopped working. People have trusted him with their work for many years. He was the proud owner of The Machine Shop. Lloyd touched the lives of many friends and family in his time here on Earth. He was always willing to help others learn a new skill to better themselves. He was good to bless those around him.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his in laws Florence & Milton P. Vaught, 2 brothers Gerald Sonny Thomas and Michael Thomas, 2 brother in laws Ed Vaught & Otis Vaught.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Thomas of the home. His 4 children, Cynthia Daniel of Canyon, Jeannine Shackelford & husband Mark of Cotton Center, Justin Thomas of Canyon and Chad Thomas & wife April of Hereford. His grandchildren, Brayden (Jessica) Daniel, Brittany (Jace) Taylor, Skyler (Krystal) Daniel, Amanda (Stephen) Emert, Matt Thomas, Carson Thomas, Ashtyn (Jerry) Maldonado, Teagan Thomas, Addison Thomas and Kantin Thomas. His great grandchildren, David, Terrence, Ansley, Abigail, Zayden, Greyson, John, Lindy, Evelyn, Luke, Ben, Ava, Marcellus and Zaylynn. His dinner partner, Bear, who is not a dog. His friend and project helper Richard Barrientos. His siblings Juana Lou Pippins, Charles (LaDonna) Thomas and sister in law Alene Thomas. He has an amazing host of friends as well.
