Lidia Hidalgo Fierro Covarrubia, 86, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Hereford surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:30 P.M. at Good News Church with Pastor Israel Olivo officiating. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Lidia Hidalgo Fierro was born on January 2, 1938, in Delicias, México. Lidia came to the United States when she was 6 months old and has lived here all her life. She attended school in Fabens, Texas until the 7th grade, while in school she participated in volleyball.

Lidia met Jose Covarrubia in Hereford, Texas and they married in 1979 and their journey together began.

Lidia was an excellent cook and homemaker. She enjoyed making all sorts of food, especially empanadas, carrot cakes, hot sauce, and she also enjoyed canning jalapeno peppers, fruits, and vegetables. Lidia loved boxing, soccer and sports cars. She was a great money manager, and she could stretch that money. Lidia was also elegant in appearance and had strong characteristics. She enjoyed reading every day while her eyesight lasted; she would read her favorite book "The Bible". Lidia was a devoted Christian and prayer warrior. She did not just talk the talk; she walked the walk. Lidia's primary goal was the salvation of her entire family, and that goal was accomplished.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Ignacia Fierro; brothers and spouses, Tereso and Ramona Fierro, Jose and Socorro Fierro, and Maclovio and Catarina Fierro; sisters and spouses, Margarita and Ismael Cisneros, Enedina and Lorenzo Anima, and Carmen Fierro; great niece Leticia Rebecca Anima Herrera; and great-great nephew Mickeal Fierro.

She is survived by her husband Jose Covarrubia; daughters and spouses, Lydia and Jose Alvarez of Amarillo, Texas; Cristina Rodriguez of Amarillo, Texas, and Valentina Estrada of Omaha, Nebraska; sons and spouses, Martin Alcozer of Temple, Texas, Mario Alcozer of Austin, Texas, Manuel and Rebecca Alcozer of Belton, Texas, Albert Alcozer of Belton, Texas, and Joe Alcozer of Hereford, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, Gloria, Natalia, Nichalus, Kara, Ethan, Jennifer, Ezekiel, Mario Jr., Amanda, Seth, Becca, Alec, Grace, Elizabeth, Amos, and Joey; eighteen great-grandchildren, Xavier, Andrew, Lyla, Michael, Carleigh, Triston, Aleigha, Jordan, Angelina, Xander, Dre, Sara, Isreal, Jace, Caden, Hazel, Arianna, and Jocylnn, and fifteen great-great grandchildren, Rylee, Cullen, Paxton, Omari, Avery, Santiago, Sebastian, McKinley, Emersyn, Brecken, Nova, and  Aries "aka" Ram, Maximus and Mattalee; and  numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many many friends, and amigas Anita, Alicia, Maria, Esmerelda, Sylvia, Juanita, and Irena.
