Leta Olene Campbell, 100, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford, Texas with grandsons Jim Bret and Craig Campbell officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Leta Olene was the seventh of eleven children born to C.E. and Lutitia (Landon) Roberts on November 16, 1920, in Cimarron County, OK.

She left this Earth for her heavenly home on Saturday, September 18 with her children at her side in her home.

After graduating from Wellington High School in 1939, she attended Draughon's Business College in Wichita Falls. Following Business College, she returned to Wellington to work in the Triple A office. She soon married her high school sweetheart, Roy Campbell on July 5, 1941.

They farmed in the Wellington area until moving to Summerfield to continue their farming career. Leta worked beside Roy and maintained their home and the rearing of their four sons and two daughters. She was an excellent seamstress, a great cook, and a devoted servant to the Lord and to her family. She hosted large family gatherings and especially enjoyed Family Reunions and holidays.

Leta was a compassionate and nurturing caregiver to both her mother and her mother-in-law in their last years.

In 1962 the Summerfield farm was sold, and the family moved into Hereford to begin a new chapter as children headed to college. Roy began a new career with the Postal Service and as a landlord as he acquired rental property. Leta faithfully supported all his endeavors. She also stepped outside the home to pursue a career as cafeteria manager in several schools in Herford. She was also a devout member of Temple Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed serving meals for many occasions including holidays, weddings, funerals, and various activities. When Temple Baptist closed their doors, she joined Avenue Baptist Church.

She and Roy were blessed to be able to enjoy world travel to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, the Holy Land, and to all 50 states in the U.S.

We will miss her devotion, her sense of humor, her generous heart, and her loving hands. She has demonstrated faith, love, and patience… what a legacy for us to follow!

We have been blessed to celebrate her 100 years, 10 months, and 2 days. Leta was proceeded in death by her parents, her 6 brothers, and 4 sisters, her husband, Roy of 73 years and 7 grandchildren.

She is survived by her 6 children and their spouses: Roy D. and B.J. Campbell of Amarillo, TX, Patsy and Don Akin of Tulsa, OK, Jim and Brenda Campbell of Hereford, TX. Pam and Andy Chavez of St Joseph, MO, Terry and Zallee Campbell of Agra, OK, Monty and K.D. Campbell of New Bern, N. C. Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
