Leslie George "Les" Riley, 79, of Hereford, Texas, laid down his working tools and passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in Hereford, Texas. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Ernest Rodriguez officiating in the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Les was born on September 6, 1944, in Higgins, Texas, to O.G. and Barbara (Rippstein) Riley. Les graduated from Canadian High School in May of 1963 and proudly served in the 36th Infantry Division Army National Guard from June 1966 to September 1971. He followed in his father's footsteps working for the Santa Fe Railroad as a young man until retirement. While with the railroad, Les held many titles including district supervisor and was part of the emergency response team. Les enjoyed the railroad, reading, time spent with his family and serving as a committee member of his sons' boy scout troop. Les was an endowed member of the Canadian and Miami Masonic Lodges, achieved the rank of 32nd Degree, and was a Noble of the Khiva Temple of Amarillo, Texas. Les was an enthusiastic Texas A&M Aggie Fan. Les married Olivia Denning on July 4, 2004, in Hereford. He has been a resident of Hereford for the last twenty-five years.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Olivia Riley of Hereford, Texas; sons, Clifton Riley and his wife Maria of New Caney, Texas and Patrick Riley and his wife Kellie of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughters, Terry Hazlett and her husband Murray of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Fox Winston Riley, Sam Hazlett, Rob Hazlett, Taylor Hazlett, and R. J. Riley; great-grandchildren, Addy Ramirez and Katy Ramirez; and good friend Howard Lovelady.

He is preceded in death by his parents, O. G. and Barbara Riley, and grandson John Ryan Hazlett.
