Lee Kimball, 79, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, in Midland, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Dickerson officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 3:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Lee was born September 8, 1942, in Littlefield, Texas, to Elmer Leeroy, Sr. and Christine (Carpenter) Kimball. Lee has been a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1961, serving during the Vietnam War, Lee was honorably discharged in 1965. He attended Texas Tech University and shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Gayla Sue Winburn. He and Gayla were married in 1972 in Hereford, Texas, at the First United Methodist Church. Lee was a farmer most of his life but had a few other places of employment in between his farming, the Pickling Plant in Dimmitt, Texas, working there for 11 years and later at PBI West in Hereford, Texas, being employed there for 15 years, later retiring at the age of 64. After retirement, he and Gayla moved to Ute Lake, where he became very involved with the Senior Center in Logan, N.M. and a member of the Eagle Club in Logan, N.M. and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hereford, Texas.

Lee enjoyed fishing, dancing, and tinkering outdoors with lake projects. Lee loved life and never met a stranger, he was a friend to everyone, and was always the life of the party, he enjoyed helping others, but above all this he truly loved his wife, his grandchildren, and his family, and was a super, great caretaker for Gayla. He will be dearly missed by many of his friends and family.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Gayla Kimball of Hereford, Texas, his mother Leona Scheihagen, formerly of Hereford, Texas, but now resides in San Antonio, Texas, his 2 daughters, Chris Tapia and her husband Jose, and Keshia Warner and her husband Francis all of Hereford, Texas; his sister Sharon Knibbe and her husband Chuck of Spring Branch, Texas; 6 grandchildren Miranda Tapia, Jacob Tapia, Darren Tapia, Brye Tapia, Landen Warner and Kaylee Warner; 2 great grandchildren Adeline Warner and Deliah Iverson.

Lee is preceded in death by his father Elmer Leeroy Kimball, Sr., his biological mother Christine Carpenter Kimball, 2 brothers Ross Kimball and Larry Hill.
