Leander John Reinart, Sr., 90, of Hereford, Texas passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrants Grant Spinhirne and Shane Wieck, burial to follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Leander was born October 21, 1929 in Hereford, Texas to Joseph and Mary Reinart. He was a long-time farmer at his family homestead SE of Hereford, Texas. Leander married the love of his life Clara Stengel on January 22, 1951.He enlisted in the US Army where he was a Corporal from 1951-1953 and served his country in the Korean War. He returned to the home he was born in, where they raised a family and he lived the rest of his life. He farmed then later partnered with two of his sons. When Leander retired, he set up a woodworking shop where he built several projects for the house, and anything his children ordered. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels at the Hereford Senior Citizens Center and the Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Leander was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where he was an usher for several years and he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. His passion was playing dominoes, elevator in the morning, cotton gin in the afternoon five days a week and he loved to putter around the yard on his ranger. Leander was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle to so many.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Clara Reinart of Hereford, Texas and his eight children; Juanita Newsom of Amarillo, Texas, Loraine Anthony and her husband Dennis of Friona, Texas, Leander Reinart, Jr. and his wife Reta of Hereford, Texas, Bryan Reinart and his wife Donna of Dimmitt, Texas, Rex Reinart of Hereford, Texas, Anthony "Tony" Reinart of Hye, Texas, Alice Peters of Aurora, IL., and Elaine Marino and her husband Morrie of Batavia, IL., and 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law Irene Reinart.
Leander is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Arhart Reinart and his wife Edna, Esidore Reinart and his wife Frieda, Alfred Reinart and his wife Clara and Elmer Reinart and two sisters Armella Wieck and her husband Eddie and Helen Batenhorst and her husband Leonard.
