Larry William Hutchins, Jr., 43, of Portales, New Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A Memorial Service is to be scheduled by family at a later date.

Larry was born on April 13, 1979, to Larry William Hutchins and Katherine May (Eichem) Aragon in Clovis, New Mexico. Larry was self-employed and worked for his family tire business, selling and fixing used truck tires. Larry married the love of his life, Melissa (Whitehurst) Hutchins on December 29, 2005, in Mesa, Arizona; they have been together since June 29, 2000. Larry enjoyed working and staying busy; he loved driving, being on the road, and listening to music. He also enjoyed trail riding, camping, and going to the lake. He wanted to be on the lake, riding jet skis, boating, swimming, or cliff jumping. Larry was very charismatic, and people were drawn to him. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was saved as a child. Larry had a huge heart; he was generous and always sought ways to help people. He loved his family dearly and loved taking care of them.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Melissa Hutchins of Portales, New Mexico; sons, Larry Hutchins III and Andrew Hutchins, both of Portales, New Mexico; grandson, Ezekiel Hutchins and another grandbaby on the way; mother, Katherine Aragon of Clovis, New Mexico; father, Larry Hutchins of Phoenix, Arizona; grandfather, Robert Eichem and his wife Cheryl of Houston, Texas; brothers, Tony Hutchins and his wife Dalynna of Clovis, New Mexico, Samuel Hutchins and his wife Stephanie of Phoenix, Arizona, and James Hutchins and his wife Sallie of Tennessee; maternal aunt, Susan McAdams and her husband Gregory of Clovis, New Mexico; maternal uncles, Tom Stanley and his wife Jeanette of Clovis, New Mexico, Tim Eichem and his wife Jackie of Bedford, Indiana, and Mike Eichem and his fiancé Rebecca Cordova of Clovis, New Mexico; paternal aunts, Amy Bubbico and her husband John of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Carol Ferguson and her husband Daryl of Bethany, Oklahoma, Suzy Hutchins of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Dorothy Hutchins of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; paternal uncle Alan Hutchins of Clovis, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sharon L. Tipton and her husband Kenneth; paternal grandparents, Walter and Dolores Hutchins; mother-in-law Suzanne Chitwood and her husband Tyler; father-in-law Larry Lloyd Whitehurst; and Katherine's late husband, Tony Aragon.
