Kyle A Smith, 72, a resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt, Texas, with Coby Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Kyle Allen Smith was born on October 4, 1952, in Little River, Kansas, to Elaine and Wayne Smith. He spent his early childhood in Little River before moving to Manhattan, Kansas, and then eventually to Ulysses, Kansas, where he graduated from Ulysses High School in 1971. Kyle married Joyce Swindler in 1970, and although their marriage eventually ended, they had four children: Donovan, Bronson, BethAnn, and Rebecca.

Kyle had a passion for agriculture and building relationships with people and spent his life dedicated to the field of agriculture.  In the early 1970s, he began farming and by 1978 he began raising feeder pigs and farming his own land.  In 1982, he established his first dairy – Sunrise Dairy.  By 1989, Kyle was still farming, but he had begun taking in pasture cattle from the surrounding feedyards.  In 1996, he went to work for Koch Industries as a ranch manager and worked there until he established a DeLaval Dairy Equipment business in 1998.  In 2000, Kyle launched Dairy Innovations and began installing and maintaining 25+ new dairy barns in the Texas Panhandle.  Kyle received numerous awards during his time, but most notable were the Conservation Awards that were given to him by Grant County.  Kyle was active in the communities in which he lived but was especially active on the fair board in Grant County, Kansas.

On June 16, 2012, Kyle married Susie Cluck in Hereford, Texas, and they shared many wonderful years. Together, Kyle and Susie established Smith Cattle Resort in Hereford, raising black Angus cattle.  They also shared a beloved cat, Wheezer, whose personality brought entertainment and companionship to their home.  Kyle and Susie enjoyed spending time together working cattle, taking shopping adventures looking for treasures and junk, and spending time with each other at their home.

Those left to cherish and treasure his memories are his wife, Susie Cluck of Hereford, Texas, his children, Donovan Smith and his wife Laurie of McAlester, Oklahoma, Bronson Smith and his wife Amy of Great Bend, Kansas, Beth Ann Kistler and her husband Thadd of Auburn, Kentucky, and Rebecca Smith-Grantham and her husband Michael of St. Joseph, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, Dustin Smith (Hailey), Shane Smith (Sarah), Holli McInturff (Ian), Grant Smith, Reed Terrell, Tripp Terrell, Chase Boots (Haley), Lawton Smith, Lakyn Smith, Morgan Cornell (Clayton), Skylar Farb (Matthew), Annie Knight (Cade), Summer Grantham, Lily Grantham, Makenzie Macias (Esau), Langdon Grantham and Dexter Grantham; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Lynn Smith of Wichita, Kansas, Lane Smith and his wife Susan, Tama Sawyer and her husband Walt, and Tara Schleicher and her husband John all of Kansas City, Kansas.

Kyle is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elaine Smith, and his brother, Kent Smith.
