Kenneth Choyse Christie, 90, of Granbury, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in Granbury, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas with Chaplin Tommy Poplin officiating.  Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born in Floydada, Texas. He was the oldest of five kids, all of whom looked up to him as the backbone of the family. Kenneth later grew up in New Deal, Texas where he competed in football, basketball, and track. He met his wife of 71 years, Dolores (Thomas) Christie, at a rival game, she was from Abernathy.

Throughout his adult life Kenneth earned a reputation as a stalwart pillar of the Hereford community and a pioneer in agriculture development. He was a dedicated member and deacon of Summerfield Baptist Church and co-founder and board member of Cattletown Feedyard. He also was a co-owner of 7X Feedyard, Big T Pump Company, and a potato shed in Friona, Texas. In addition to farming several grains and vegetables, Kenneth grew test plots of corn for Frito-Lay, earning him the title of Hereford's, "Farmer of the Year." He was also heavily involved in the Hereford stock show, founding the Champion Club.

Kenneth and Dolores relocated to Granbury, Texas in 2002 where they built a self-storage complex and dealt in land development. He spent his final years in the beautiful home he built on the banks of Lake Granbury.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Dolores Christie of Granbury, Texas; a daughter Valerie Fellhauer and husband Tom of Hereford, Texas; a sister Katherene Gregory Wisdom of Amarillo, Texas; as well as six grandchildren, Shayne Fellhauer, Kelly Christie and wife Elda, Colby Christie, Kena Fuston, Chad Christie, and Kealie Kohlmeyer and husband Geoffrey; seven great grandchildren, Kimber Kohlmeyer, Kendal Kohlmeyer, Madison Palmer and husband Anthony, Brayden Christie, Miah Kroker, Elyse Christie, and Izabel Christie, and two great-great grandchildren Kennedy and Bradley Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Christie in 2012.
