Julia Vela Zepeda, 66, of Hereford, Texas, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at her residence in Hereford, TX. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 29, 2017 at La Iglesia de San Jose with Reverend Henry Wilson Rodriguez, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas.

Julia Vela was born on August 20, 1950 in Brownfield, Texas to Ricardo Vela and Josefina Sotelo Vela. She married Carlos Zepeda on December 18, 1970 in Hereford, Texas. Julia moved with her family to Hereford in 1970 from Brownfield, Texas. Julia was a homemaker and a member of La Iglesia de San Jose. She enjoyed sewing and doing crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Josefina Vela, and a brother, Ricardo Vela, Jr.

Survivors: 3 Daughters: Becky Zepeda Alanis and husband, Angel of Hereford, TX, Eva Zepeda and husband, Jorge Guerrero, of Hereford, TX, Elizabeth Zepeda and husband, Jesus Laguna of Dumas, TX

2 Sons: Carlos Zepeda, Jr. and wife, Viviana, of Hereford, TX, Moises Zepeda and wife, JoAnna, of Hereford, TX

3 Sisters: Odelia Vela and husband, Lalo Haso, of Lubbock, TX, Irene Aguilar and husband, Raymond, of Lamesa, TX, Leonor Coronado of Houston, TX

3 Brothers: Leonel Vela of Slaton, TX, Martin Vela of Lubbock, TX, and Lonires Vela and wife, Gloria, of Lubbock, TX
