Juanita Salazar, 100, of Hereford, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, TX with Father Ramon Molina officiating; burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. A viewing will be held on Sunday, from 3:00- 5:00 PM at the funeral home. We ask that you join with us in praying the Rosary at 7:00 pm, please pray at your own home so that we might all remain safe during the pandemic.

Juanita was born on July 24, 1920 to Carmen and Rosa (Mendez) Lopez in Falls City, Texas. She married Severiano Salazar in 1953. Together they lived in numerous towns before settling in Hereford.

Juanita was a phenomenal woman who had great faith. She was kind, proud, strong, very hard working, and wouldn't ask for help unless she really needed it. She went through many hardships but persevered. Many lives were touched by her kindness. She loved everyone especially children and she loved family gatherings. Juanita loved to cook and made the best corn tortillas. She also loved to eat good food, especially fresh cooked beans, tamales, and nopalitos. She liked to tell you stories about her past.  Her passion was playing dominoes and she was very proud of being a champion player, but she was never happy when she lost and let you know it.

You could always go to her with your problems and she would listen and give you good advice. If you were sick, she was always happy to give you one of her home remedies to make you feel better. During her 100 years, she touched many lives, and everyone's lives were enriched by knowing her. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by a cousin, Jose DeLaCruz of Hereford, TX, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Juanita has joined her parents and husband Severo in heaven.
