Juanita V. Salas, age 82, formerly a resident of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and cremation services are under the care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas. A family-conducted Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses, with Minister Ernest Cantu officiating.

Juanita was born on June 24, 1943, in Langtry, Texas, to Crescencio and Nieves (Padilla) Velasquez. She spent more than forty years living in Pflugerville, Texas, before recently moving back to Hereford to be near her daughter and due to health reasons.

Juanita was passionate about gardening, especially growing her beautiful roses and chili plants. She was an excellent cook, with "Caldo" being a family favorite, and she enjoyed embroidery and sewing, never needing a pattern for her creations. Juanita was a devoted Elvis Presley fan and had a particular fondness for shoes, especially high heels. She took great pride in caring for her husband and in raising her six children and grandchildren. Her presence, warm smile, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Juanita is survived by her children: Irene Cantu and her husband Benny, Amy Ontiveros and her husband Rene, Eliseo Salas, Gabriel Salas, all of Austin, Texas, and Laura Castruita and her husband Freddie of Hereford. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister Eva Ybarra and her husband Teodoro of Hereford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Juan E. Salas, her son Joel Salas, and her siblings Chenta, Lola, Lala, Jeannie, Mary, Linda, Theresa, Juan, and Chavelo.
