Juanita Garza, 80, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 10, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M., with Father Nick Gerber officiating. Burial to take place at a later date. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Juanita was born on August 10, 1941, in Hidalgo, Texas to Santos and Maria (Navarro) Mendez. She married Ernesto Garza, Sr., and they shared sixty-six beautiful years together. Juanita was a lifelong resident of Hereford and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Juanita took great pride in being a homemaker and was dedicated to her husband, family, parents, and grandchildren. She took care of her parents until their last days, and it was her joy in helping to raise her grandchildren. Juanita loved gardening, crocheting, and making jewelry. She had a green thumb when it came to her yard and flowers. She enjoyed family gatherings with a meal and was known for her tamales and homemade tortillas. Juanita always made sure everyone in her family had a gift at Christmas, she knew everyone's birthday and had an incredible sense of direction and knowledge.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Ernesto Garza, Sr. of Hereford, Texas; children, Ernesto Garza Jr. and his wife Bertha of Hereford, Texas, Hilda A. Vargas and her husband Ralph of Houston, Texas, Freddie Garza and his wife Liz of Lubbock, Texas, Aida Garza and her fiancé Bacilio "B" Rodriguez, Jr. of Hereford, Texas, Jaime Garza Sr. and his wife Irma of Dallas, Texas, Nelda Gaitan and her husband Daniel Sr. of Amarillo, Texas, and Rick Garza and his wife Lily of Lubbock, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Jaime Mendez of McAllen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Maria Mendez, and sister Santos Hernandez.
