Juanita C. "Juana" Carrizales, 70, of Hereford passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 3:00 PM at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with Rev. Ramon Molina as celebrant. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Rosary will be Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Juana was born September 9, 1948 in Pharr, Texas to Victor and Irene C. (Villanueva) Carrizales. Juana has been a resident of Hereford since 1964. She was a waitress at Leo's Café, she did fieldwork with Leonel Gonzalez, she worked at the sheds with Griffin and Brand and at one time she owned and operated J.C.'s Thrift Store on Main; her last place of employment was with home health care at Caprock. She was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church. Juana enjoyed playing bingo, doing her yardwork, watching her western movies, listening to Elvis Presley music, dancing at the Wishing Well, being an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and she especially loved cruising in the 1968 Pontiac GTO with her nephew Christopher.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son Ruben Cantu of Hereford; two grandchildren Malkya Ruben Cantu and Ezekiel Cantu; a sister Paula Garcia of Hereford and her nieces and nephews Jose Luis Vanegas of Austin; Pedro Vanegas of N.C.; Maria Bowen of Idaho; Tomas Ruben Garcia, Jr. and Ricardo Garcia both of California; Daniel Garcia of Virginia; Felix Garcia of Amarillo; Samuel Garcia of Canyon; Mario Garcia; Florestela Rodriguez; Christopher Martinez and Rachael Gutierrez all of Hereford; Amariah Garcia and Juan D. Rodriguez, Jr. both of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her mother; a sister Aurora Vanegas and a brother Tomas Ruben Garcia.
