Juan P. Hernandez, 81, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Viewing will be on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 3:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Juan was born on January 17, 1943, in Michoacan, Mexico, to Felipe and Luz (Palomino) Hernandez. He has been a resident of Hereford since 1953. He married the love of his life, Felipa Escobedo, in 1967, in Hereford, and together they had a wonderful life, with a beautiful family. Juan worked for what was then called WAC Seed Company, also known at one time as Agri-Pro Seed Company, for 40 years. He wore many hats while working there, drove a truck to being the foreman. Juan enjoyed singing and playing his guitar; grilling outdoors, fishing, golfing, spending precious and valuable time with his grandchildren. Juan was very active in his grandchildren's lives, he attended most of their activities and always treasured time spent with them. Juan especially loved time spent with his wife watching novellas and old cowboy movies. He cherished his talks with his brothers and time spent with his family, family was very important to Juan. He loved Red Bulls, donuts, and chocolate cake. Juan and Felipa were members of San Jose Catholic Church of Hereford. Juan's presence will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Felipa Hernandez of Hereford, Texas; his children, Sammy Hernandez and his wife Lupe, and Marisela Hernandez  all of Hereford; 5 grandchildren, Marisela Hernandez and husband Jose Ojeda, Jr., Juan Marcos Gonzales and his wife Bri Gonzales, Michelle Gonzales, Joseph Hernandez and wife Marie, and John A. Hernandez and wife Cassandra; 16 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Elexis, Nariah, Jeremiah, Zachariah, Denzel, Devin, Jadyn, Aybri, Cameron, Maverick, Rylyn, Samantha, Carter, Juiliana, and Madison; his siblings, Juan Hernandez and wife Sylvia, Emilio Hernandez and wife Monica, Rosa Gonzalez, Maria Robles, Maria Gonzales and husband Fidel, Carmen Lopez, Lisa Garcia and husband Tommy, Linda Romo, Felipa Avila and husband Moy, and Minnie Mungia and husband Chemo all of Hereford; his son-in-law, Juan 'Ricky" Gonzales

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia Gonzales, a grandson, Sammy Hernandez, Jr., a great-granddaughter, Serenity Bella Hernandez Ojeda, his siblings, Raymond and Pete Hernandez, Lupe Hernandez, and Josie Tapia.
