Juan Hernandez, known to his friends and family as "Cowboy" went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 70. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. with Father Ramon Molina officiating at the San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Cowboy was born on May 6, 1953, to Policarpio Hernandez and Olivia (Castro) Hernandez in Sinton, Texas.

Cowboy was a long-time Hereford resident, where he met the love of his life Elena (Gamez) Hernandez. Cowboy asked for Elena's hand in marriage on December 31, 1975, at their home in Hereford. Together they created a beautiful family and instilled their legacy in them. Cowboy was known for his strong work ethic, he worked for local trucking companies over the years. He traveled the many miles with a great smile and great pride, now he drives the streets of Heaven, 10-4 Cowboy drive on.

Cowboy was a talented guitar player and loved music, he played the accordion and loved to sing. He didn't mind a warm beer and was always the life of the party. Cowboy always had a positive impact on all who knew him, he always had a joke up his sleeve to share. Cowboy will be greatly missed by so many.

Those left to carry on Cowboys Legacy are his beloved wife of 48 years, Elena Hernandez of Abilene, Texas; his children, Angel Hernandez and his wife Shelly, Blanca Estella Hernandez, Luis Hernandez and his wife Valerie all of Abilene, Texas, Juan Hernandez and his wife Norma of Hereford, Texas; his siblings, Amador Hernandez and his wife Esther, Emma Sanchez and her husband Jose, Delfina Barrientez and her late husband Enemencio Barrientez, Jr., Hortencia Lopez and her late husband Jose, Sylvia Monzon and her husband Sergio, Policarpio Hernandez, Jr. and his wife Margarita, Jose Angel Hernandez, Julian Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Carmen Hernandez, Olivia Rincon and her husband Jerry all of Hereford, Texas; his grandchildren, Jesse Angel Hernandez, Angelica De La Cruz, Juan Manuel De La Cruz, Penelope De La Cruz, Nolin De La Cruz, Yessenia Hernandez Padilla, Priscilla Hernandez Segura, Sonya Hernandez, Abigial Hernandez; 4 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in passing are his parents, Policarpio Hernandez and Olivia (Castro) Hernandez; daughter Maria Elena Hernandez, his brothers, David Hernandez, Angel Hernandez, Fransico Hernandez.
