Jovita M. Leyva, 90, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Jovita was born on February 15, 1935, in Fabens, Texas to Arlinzo and Irene (Martinez) Moreland. She moved to Hereford in 2005 to be close to family. Jovita loved to do needlework, embroidery, take care of her indoor and outdoor plants, and watch telenovelas. She loved having her children and grandchildren over and her faith in Jesus was very important.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Stella LaFerriere of Arizona, Carmen Mancillas of Hereford, Texas, Fernando Leyva and wife Michelle of Canyon, Texas, Alfredo Leyva and wife Araceli of Amarillo, Texas, Martha Leyva and husband Andy of Amarillo, Texas, Susan Hernandez and husband Jeffery of Pflugerville, Texas, Elizabeth Perez of Hereford, Texas, Leticia Hannun and husband Richard, and Juan Perez and wife Barbara of Arizona; numerous loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Sunny Moreland of Arizona, Willie Williams of Arizona, Margaret Patt of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Trudy Hines of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Arlinzo and Irene Moreland, son Joe Moreland, brother, George Moreland, sister Mary Dickson, and grandsons, Michael Sanchez and Jose Perez.
