Josefina Hernandez Tapia, 75, of Hereford, Texas passed away Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing and Visitation will begin Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.

Josefina was born March 19, 1944 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Felipe and Luz (Palomino) Hernandez. Josefina has been a resident of Hereford for 60 years, since the age of fourteen. She married Guadalupe Tapia in December of 1965. She was an agricultural worker and homemaker. Josefina attended church at Victory Church and she enjoyed working in her flower beds, she especially loved her red roses; she enjoyed arts and crafts, listening to music, cooking for her family, adventure and traveling; she was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and a Herd fan, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and family and catering and pampering her little dog, "Chili".

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Adelina Tapia and husband Salvador Torres, Jose Ernesto Tapia and wife Chris, Jesus Tapia and wife Diana all of Hereford, TX and Guadalupe Tapia Jr. and wife Evelyn of Wolforth, TX, her mother, Luz Hernandez of Hereford, TX, eight sisters, Rosita Gonzalez and husband Frank, Maria Robles and husband Jose, Carmen Lopez and husband Larry, Maria Gonzalez and husband Fidel, Linda Romo, Minnie Mungia and husband Anselmo, Felipa Avila and husband Moses and Lisa Garcia and husband Tommy all of Hereford, TX, four brothers, Juan Hernandez and wife Felipa, Ramon Hernandez, Emilio Hernandez and wife Monica and Juan Felipe Hernandez and wife Sylvia all of Hereford, TX, 12 grandchildren, Nathan, Lorenzo, Elijah, Miranda, Jacob, Reyna, Gabriel, Abrie, Ezekiel, Darren, Brye and Vivian along with 8 great-grandchildren.

Josefina is preceded in death by her father, Felipe Hernandez, husband, Guadalupe Tapia, a brother, Pedro Hernandez and a sister, Guadalupe Hernandez.
