Jose L. Nava went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 75 years old, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Hereford. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Good News Church with Pastor David Alvarado officiating, burial will follow at West Park Cemetery. A family and friend visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Jose was born to his parents, Romulo and Elvira (Villagomez) Nava in Mexico on April 6, 1949. Jose met his love in Mexico, and they got married and moved to Hereford and raised a beautiful family together. He was a long-time resident of Hereford since 1980.

Jose had a strong work ethic and was never late to any job or anywhere. Jose instilled many life lessons to his family, but priority was serving the Lord, he attended Good News Church where he went to hear the "good word" from Pastor David Alvarado.

Jose enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors, golfing and fishing. He loved to watch baseball and his team the Houston Astros

Those left to carry on his legacy are his wife, Maria E. Nava of Hereford, Texas; his children, Alma Contreras and her husband Tony, Araceli Hernandez and her husband Jose, Juan Nava and his wife Raquel all of Hereford, Texas, German Nava of Amarillo, Texas, Alejandro Nava and his wife Amanda of Oceanside, California, Mayra Nava of New Braunfels, Texas; 14 grandchildren Sebastian Contreras, Samantha Nava, Savannah Nava, Ashley Hernandez, Gabriella Hernandez, Stephen Nava, Amber Nava, Juan Nava Jr., Miranda Dinger, Isaiah Nava, Leighton Nava, Alejandra Nava, Faith Nava. Rihana Nava; 2 great-grandchildren, Ivy Dinger and Sophia Dinger; his loving siblings Juan and Oralia Nava, Eva Nava, Antonio Nava, Raul Nava, Eloy Nava, Javier Nava, Rubén Nava, Rosa Rodriguez and Alicia Carmona; two sisters-in-law, Josie and Rosario Nava.

Those preceding him in passing are his parents, Romulo and Elvira Nava; his two brothers, Guillermo Nava and Arturo Nava.
