J ose Luis Mendez, 75, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Dimmitt, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from               5:00-8:00 PM and rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jose was born on March 18, 1949, in Edinburg, Texas, to Ricardo Sanchez and Maria Guadalupe (Mata) Mendez. Jose has been a resident of Hereford since 1968, moving from Edinburg, Texas. He worked for Southwest Feedyard for 18 years, before his retirement he was a security officer at Holly Sugar and Hereford Regional Medical Center. Jose enjoyed being around his family and family gatherings, playing Bingo, raising calves and cattle, he truly loved everything about the agriculture industry; he loved eating his tamales with tortillas, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Jose's presence and laughter will be missed by those who loved him dearly.

Those left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Guadalupe Mendez and his wife Delma, Juanita Gonzales and her husband Jose, Anastacio Mendez and his wife Linda, Ricardo Mendez, Jr. and his wife Marivel all of Hereford, Texas, Margaret Silva and her husband Martin, David Mendez, and Enrique Mendez all of Amarillo, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents and 2 nieces.
