Jorge Ortega, 41, of Hereford Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in Amarillo Texas. There are no scheduled services at this time. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford Texas.

Jorge was born on February 3, 1981, in Rio Grande City Texas to Armando Mejia and Victorina Ortega. Jorge has been a resident of Hereford for two years, moving from Brownfield. Jorge enjoyed fishing, singing, and liked to draw and create art. He was a real jokester and loved being a storyteller. On October 22, 2005, Jorge married the love of his life, Dora Mendez, in Senora Texas. He went on to have six children. Jorge loved his children deeply; they were his whole world.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Dora Ortega of Hereford Texas; two daughters Briana Ortega, and Mavis Ortega; sons Fabian Ortega, Jacinto Ortega, all of Hereford Texas, Jorge Ortega Jr. and wife Janelly Ortega and Luis Carlos Ortega and wife Michelle Ortega of Rio Grande Texas; mother Victorina Ortega and husband Macario Arrendondo of Hereford Texas; father Armando Mejia and wife Sofia of Rio Grande Texas; sisters Melinda Croster and husband Jeremiah of Houston Texas and Laticia Benitez of Hereford Texas; brothers Armando Mejia of Rio Grande Texas, and David Ortega of Hereford, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Jorge is preceded in death by his favorite dog Diablo.
