John Sliney, 67, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 4:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rusty Dickerson officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

John was born on November 27, 1954, in Waco, Texas, to John Francis, Sr. and Irene (Schimschot) Sliney. John grew up in Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Permian High School. He attended West Texas A&M University in 1976, where he met and fell in love with Kim Simpson. He and Kim were married on August 19, 1978, in Hereford, Texas. John worked for Vasek Heating and Air for 10 years, where he met and worked closely with Jeff Nielsen. John eventually joined Comfort Air becoming General Manager and part owner; after Jeff's passing in 2013, he and Mack Nielsen reincorporated Deaf Smith Comfort Air. John loved providing the best customer service to his customers and going above and beyond for their satisfaction. He was a true believer and supporter of his community and local businesses. He took much pride in his business and being a part of the Hereford Community. John loved to play golf, he especially loved it when Mack and AJ asked him to be a part of any golf tournament; he enjoyed watching football and he was an avid Nascar Fan, and he loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle. John enjoyed yardwork and gardening and truly enjoyed the time spent with his son camping and being outdoors.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Kim Sliney of Hereford, Texas, his son Darren Sliney and his wife Irene Kwong of Issaquah, Washington State; his daughter Kara Sliney and her fiancé Tristian Neal of White Oak, Texas; three grandchildren Jacob and Lily Sliney and Layken Neal; one sister Stephanie Orsini of Odessa, Texas; his mother-in-law Yvonne Simpson of Hereford, Texas; brother-in-law Carl Simpson of Hereford, Texas, and sister-in-law Janis Artho and her husband David of Canyon, Texas.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law Ray Simpson.
