Joe "Chia" Ellis, Jr. went to be in the hands of our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 65. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Good News Church with Pastor David Alvarado officiating at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery of Hereford. A viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Good News Church of Hereford from 5:00-7:00 P.M. The Ellis family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Joe Cruz Ellis, Jr., was born on February 11, 1958, to his loving parents Joe Cruz Ellis, Sr., and Betty (Rogers) Ellis in Mart, Texas. Joe was a long-time Hereford resident, previously of Dimmitt, Texas, where he met the love of his life RosaLinda (Gonzalez) Ellis at the Allsup's. Joe immediately fell in love with RosaLinda and asked for her hand in marriage on April 10, 1980, at his father's home in Dimmitt. Together they created a beautiful, loving, family. Joe always made sure to take his children and his family to visit other relatives, his point was to make sure they understood the importance of family.

Joe had a strong work ethic and worked many years in the farming industry. Joe instilled many life lessons to his family, but priority was serving our Lord with graceful hearts, he attended Good News Church where he went to hear the "good word" from Pastor David Alvarado. Joe had a loving, graceful, forgiving heart; he loved his family unconditionally. Joe was an avid Dallas Cowboy's fan he enjoyed cooking out and spending time with his family, playing domino's and loved to tell Jokes as he shared his contagious smile.

Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his beautiful wife RosaLinda Ellis of 43 beautiful years of marriage, his loving children, Audra Valdez and her husband Freddy all of Hereford, Texas, Joe Cruz Ellis III and his wife Erica of Lubbock, Texas; his siblings, Rita Ellis, Lupe Ellis, Linda Gonzales and her husband Alex, Adam Ellis all of Lubbock, Texas, Francis Jaso and her husband Albert of San Angelo, Texas, David Ellis and his wife Danielle, Jeremiah Jaso and his wife Blanca all of Amarillo, Texas; his beautiful grandchildren that Joe loved and cherished whole heartly, Shlyee Ortiz and her husband Jesus, Abram Ajui, Josiah Rando, Joshua Rando, Joe Cruz Ellis, IV., Logan Ellis, Peyton Ellis; his great grandchild, Yaretzy Ortiz and his new coming baby girl Amari Rando; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in passing by his parents, Joe Cruz Ellis, Sr. and Betty (Rogers) Ellis; his daughter, Pearl Gonzalez; his mother-in-law, Gabriela Alvarez Perez; his sisters, Anita Cardenas, Dorothy Garcia, Betty Torres, Eva Ellis; his nephew, Elias Jaso.
