Jesus C. "Chuy" Tijerina, 66, Of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Nestor Lara officiating, burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hereford. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 1:30-8:00 P.M. with Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Due to the COVID- 19 virus mandates, we ask that you please wear a mask provided by you if attending the visitation, rosary, or mass. Your health and safety matter to us.

Jesus was born on January 12, 1955 to Jose and Tiofila (Casanova) Tijerina in Asherton, Texas. He has been a resident of Hereford for the majority of his life and was employed at Livestock Nutrition Center in Hereford for the last 9 years. Jesus met and has been with the love of his life Elsa Barrientez since 1994. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Jesus enjoyed grilling for his family, shopping, and listening to music especially the oldies and Spanish. He was fascinated with Chevrolet trucks, brand new ones. Jesus loved his children and grandchildren and loved to give to them and random people. He was a wonderful Dad with a great sense of humor.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Elsa Barrientez of Hereford, TX., daughters Laura Bullard and her husband Joshua of Amarillo, TX., Irene Corona and her husband Ramon of Hereford, TX., and Jessica Tijerina of Hereford, TX; son Matthew Tijerina of Hereford, TX; fourteen grandchildren; brothers Julian Tijerina of Amarillo, TX., Gilbert Tijerina and his wife Melly, and Fred Tijerina both from Hereford, TX., sisters Rosa Basaldua and her husband Andres, Grace Mendiola, and Beanida Garza all of Hereford, TX. , and Maria Elena Villarreal and her husband Francisco of Michigan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Jose Jr., Juan, and Mario Tijerina, and one sister Adelina Galvan.
