Winford "Jay" Kerr, 85, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Hereford, surrounded by his loving family. Graveside service will be on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Jay was born on February 13, 1937, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to John and Alice (Maness) Kerr. He met the love of his life Mary Frances (Sullivan) Kerr, when they were ten years old; they married on November 30, 1956. Jay has been a resident of Hereford since the mid-1950s; he owned and operated Jay Kerr Trucking. He was a hard worker and took great pride in providing and caring for his family. Jay bought and sold hay to just about everyone in the surrounding area and hauled many loads of grain and other commodities during Harvest. Jay was an avid horseman and team roper and supported his kids when they were young with their riding club, participating in play days and rodeos. Jay also enjoyed meeting his friends at the ranch house daily for coffee.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Mary Frances Kerr of Hereford, Texas; son Michael Kerr and his wife Cindy of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter Pam Bone of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Dustin Whitaker and his wife Mandi of Amarillo, Texas, Ashley Kerr and Darius Crawford of Cortez, Colorado, Haley Marshall of Amarillo, Texas, Taylor McLaughlin and husband Swayze of Amarillo, Texas; great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Orin, Ellis, and Evryn; and brother, Gordon Kerr and wife Cherry of Canyon, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Kerr.
