Jason Richard Ward, 52, passed away suddenly on March 25, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas.

Jason was born May 9, 1973, in Hereford, Texas to complete the family of Wylie Richard Ward and Kay Charlene Packard Ward.   During his younger years Jason grew up in Hereford and Plano, Texas and then relocated to LaVerne, Tennessee with his mother in his teenage years.  Jason graduated from The Nashville Academy in 1993.  Jason later returned to Texas spending time in Plano, Hereford, Menard and San Angelo.

Jason spent his working life as a master painter, taking pride in his craft and the work of his hands. He embraced life as an adventure — whether traveling to far-off places or simply exploring the beauty of his own backyard.  Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, kayaking and spending time outdoors. Jason loved all creatures, great and small.  He had an easy, gentle way about him—he never met a stranger, and everyone tended to like him right away.

Jason is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Kay Charlene Packard and Wylie Richard Ward, and his nephew, Jonathan Richard Ward.  Also awaiting him in heaven are his grandparents Harley and Lorena Ward and Charles and Louise Packard as well as Aunt Phyllis Ward Brown and one cousin Cory Joseph Reinart.

He is survived by his sister, Jill Leigh Statham; his brother, Jon Marcus Ward; great nephew Jayson Ricard Ward and great niece Kaisy Layne Ward and their mother Elizabeth Skelton, as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be held at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Hereford, Texas, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite animal or wildlife charity.

He will be remembered for his cheerful smile and joyful spirit and entrusted to the care of a God who knows the heart.
