Janis Bell, 94, of Hereford, Texas passed away on July 3, 2021, in Hereford. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Janis was born on February 26, 1927, to Mitchell and Hazel (Peterson) Planchard in San Pedro, California. She graduated college with a teaching degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California then went on to receive her master's degree at USC. Janis was an accomplished musician playing the piano, violin, and cello; she also spoke German. Janis moved to Hereford in 1969 and taught for the Hereford School District from 1969-1985. She volunteered with the Hereford Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she played the bells.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Terry Bell and wife Lynn of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Beverly Bell of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Paul Andrew Bell of Granbury, Texas; three grandchildren, Maegan Bell Nix, Terrell Allen Bell III, and Cristina Bell Massie; and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and a great grandchild.
