Janie Mendez-Caldera, 41, of Amarillo, Texas formerly of Hereford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery. Family and friend condolences will be received on Friday from 10:00 AM-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Janie was born December 14, 1979, in Hereford, Texas to Guadalupe and Delma (Sierra) Mendez. Janie was raised in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School in 1998. She was crowned 'Princesa" of the La Fiesta Patrias of San Jose in 1996. She married the love of her life, Carlos Caldera on July 31, 1998, in Hereford, Texas. She and Carlos have lived in Amarillo since 2007. Janie worked at Backyard Adventures for a few years but was presently employed at A-1 Builders in Amarillo. Janie loved doing make-up tutorials on Facebook and Instagram and selling the products she presented. She enjoyed dancing, watching football, baseball, and hockey and recently came to play and be good at pool. Janie enjoyed being social and loved being around her friends and especially her family. She loved her little sister, "sissy", her niece, "Penny Pie" and her English bulldog, Chloe, but above all this she unconditionally loved her children and her husband. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend that will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Carlos Caldera of Amarillo, Texas, a daughter, Amber Caldera and her boyfriend Sammy Joe Hernandez of Hereford, Texas, two sons, Timothy Amado and Carlos James Caldera both of Amarillo, Texas: her parents, Guadalupe and Delma Mendez of Hereford, Texas: two brothers, Lupe Mendez, Jr. and wife Michelle Rodriguez and Joe Mendez and wife Celeste Trevino all of Amarillo, Texas: three sisters, Amanda Torres and husband Matthew Guerra of Hereford, Texas, Brenda Mendez and husband John Trevino of Montana and Sierra Mendez of Hereford, Texas: her mother-in-law, Nora Escamilla Caldera of Canton, Texas: five brothers-in-law, Amado Caldera of Forney, Texas, Johnny Caldera of Hereford, Texas, Ezekiel, Elias and Jerry Caldera all of Canton, Texas: three sisters-in-law, Christina Caldera of Terrell, Texas, Tabitha Caldera and Sarah Caldera both of Canton, Texas.
