James Paetzold, 85, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 2:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

James was born on October 28, 1936, in Hereford, Texas, to John Paetzold and Helen (Korstjens) Paetzold. James was raised in Hereford and was a lifetime resident. He attended Price College and Texas A&M and served in the United States Army. He was a longtime farmer and worked at Holly Sugar and Hereford Grain. James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved drag racing in his younger years and "Paetzold-izing" everything he touched. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Those left to cherish his memory are the mother of his children, Sylvia Paetzold and his four children, Dennis Paetzold and Jamie Joseph (J.J.) Paetzold both of Amarillo, Texas, Kevin Paetzold and his wife Karen of Keller, Texas, and Denise Paetzold King and her husband Daniel of Canyon, Texas; seven grandchildren Austin King, Tanner King, Maci King, Chelsy Paetzold and fiancé Sam Sauceda, Sara Paetzold and fiancé Kevin Flores, Clara Paetzold, and Jacob Paetzold; four great grandchildren Kayden Arreola, Karoline Sauceda, Carson Flores and Asher Flores; one brother Bobby Paetzold and his wife Nancy of Hereford, Texas.

James is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Raymond, George, Edward "Bud", Bill and Walter Paetzold and two sisters Eleanor Williams and Alice Koenig.
