James "Jim" H. Close, Jr., 92, of Hereford, Texas passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 in Hereford. A Memorial Service will take place at a later day and time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Jim was born November 11, 1927 in Shamrock, Texas to James H. Sr., and Alice (Taylor) Close. Jim has been a resident of Hereford since 1994 moving from Dillon, CO. Jim married Donnie Goad on November 1, 1947 in Shamrock. Jim was a US Army Veteran he enlisted in 1945-1947 serving in WW II while in Korea.  Jim was a Knights Templar and Mason for 57 years, he was a member of VFW, the American Legion, a Boy Scout Leader, member of the Lions Club, a volunteer firefighter and a longtime member of the Central Church of Christ. Jim enjoyed fishing, working around his home, gardening and was a carpenter and a jack-of-all trades. He was a champion dominos player and loved doing puzzles, several of his puzzles are in many doctor's offices, the Humane Society and at his church building. Jim was the greatest dad, granddad, and father-in-law, who will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Cindy Sublett and her husband John of Hereford, Denise Page and her husband Jim of Cedaredge, CO., and his granddaughter/daughter, Cimmy Starr and her husband Bobby of Delta, CO., a brother, Dan Close of Greyball, Wyoming,  4 grandchildren Renee Bedwell her husband Larry of Canyon, Robin Johnson of Amarillo, Kelly Hanson and her husband Levi of Cedaredge, CO., and C.J. Taylor and his wife Shelane of Hotshkiss, CO. and 12 great grandchildren.
