Jacky, our fearless leader has finished his work here on Earth and headed to the house. Jacky was a hero, friend, brother, uncle, a father to many, grandfather and a loving husband. He was fair, honest, funny generous, fearless and strong and he instilled that in his family and "Trainwreckers". We'd say go rest easy, but he never did stop working, so we will say keep us on track Jack.

Jacky was the owner/operator of Messer Construction Co., Inc for 46 years alongside his family and loyal employees. His love for big heavy equipment and earth moving was the driving force. He built the majority of roads and feedyards around the panhandle. Messer Construction grew into a multiple state first responder company for several Class 1 railroads across the South West.  Derailments were his forte, as he lead many "Trainwreckers" to always successful rerails. The company shifted focus later to Heavy Duty Highway Wrecker Services.  In his retirement, he loved to blacksmith and tinker with the grandkids and his special buddy John, they were a team.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of the home, Johnnie Ruth Messer(Blackwell) of Hereford, Texas; his children, Brandy Messer, Nikki Messer Rains, Jason and Kristin Messer all of Hereford, Texas; his grandchildren, Jasper John Martin and Shayleigh Drumm, Jacky Messer and Mara, Jill and Clayton Carrithers, Jolly and Sean Carver, John Rains, Jacy Messer, Amy Hayes, and Callie Reed; his great grandchildren, Jennings Martin, Brooklyn and Paisley Messer, River and Walker Carrithers, Jenny Ruth Carver; brother, Roy Dale Messer and wife Mary Beth of Lubbock, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Flay Messer and Dora Victoria (Eastman); two brothers, Jimmy Ray Messer and Cecil Ray Messer.

Jacky Messer passed on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 73 in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Michelle McDaniel officiating. Burial will immediately follow at West Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
