Irene Louise Artho Reinart, 92, of Hereford, passed away on May 15, 2020 at Hereford Nursing and Rehab where she was loved till the end, following a lengthy illness. Graveside service will be Tuesday May 19, 2020 at 10:30 at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas with Celebrant's: Scott Raef, Shane Wieck, and Tony Neusch. Family wishes the safety of all friends and family and will understand your absence but presence in Spirit. Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 3:00-7:00 PM. A Memorial Service, Mass and shared memories will be scheduled at a later date. Due to the COVID -19 only (10) people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time and only (10) people can be up under the tent at graveside, all others attending must stand back. Your well being and safety matter to us.

Irene was born to Paul and Louise Skypala Artho on April 29, 1928 in Deaf Smith County General Hospital (where she would later bear 8 children). Irene's mother passed a few days later. Her only language until age 6 was German/ Swiss. Irene married Elmer Reinart May 27, 1947 in Hereford at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where they were members until their deaths. Irene was a member of the Amarillo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and Christian Mothers Confraternity, Hereford Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, St. Mary's Umbarger Sodality, and St. Anthony Women's Organization. Irene gave well over 20,000 hours to volunteer work and held every office on the Hospital Auxiliary and many in her parish. She loved to dance, paint ceramics and wood, embroider, play cards and Bingo, host guest in their home, travel and make popcorn for patients and visitors at Deaf Smith County Hospital/Hereford Regional Medical Center. She was a private home caregiver for the elderly and sick. She also worked and volunteered for hospice. In 1996 she was named Hereford's Volunteer of the Year.

Those left to cherish Irene's memory are her children Wayne Reinart and his wife Gaylene of Hereford, Texas, Roy Reinart and his wife Deby of Hereford, Texas, Janie Banner and her husband Mark, Paulette Borgognoni of Euless, Texas, Julie French of Arlington, Texas, Melinda Sullivan and husband Mike of Coppell, Texas, and Rhonda Baur and her husband Butch of Duluth, Georgia; 10 grandson; 11 granddaughters; 11 great grandsons; 10 great granddaughters; 2 brothers Joe Artho and wife Theresa of Hereford, Texas and Andy Artho and his wife Cynthia of Vega, Texas; numerous nieces, nephew, and special Godchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by parents; husband Elmer Reinart on January 10, 2018; infant son Sidney Eugene and siblings Elroy, Leo, Harvey Artho, Edna Wieck, Gracie Raef, Viola Birkenfeld, Elsie Fangman, Willie Artho and Kenneth Artho.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in memory of Irene Reinart to Hereford Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, 540 W 15th St, Hereford, Texas 79045; Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger St, Hereford, Texas 79045; Samaritan Hospice, 426 Main St, Ste E, Hereford, Texas 79045; or a charity of your choice.
