Irene Gomez Medrano, 88, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 10, 2025, at San Jose Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Monsignor Arturo Mesa officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Irene was born on October 20, 1936, to Vicente and Rosa (Garcia) Gomez in La Presita, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She has been a resident of Hereford, Texas, for 62 years. She married the love of her life, Domingo Medrano, on February 9, 1959, in Mexico. Together, she and Domingo had a wonderful life and six beautiful children. Irene took much pride in raising her children and caring for her husband. She loved all her in-laws like her own as well as her comarades and compadres. Irene was a wonderful seamstress and cook, also farmed along with her husband, she was an extraordinarily hard worker and never met an impossibility. She took much pleasure in attending her rose garden. Irene had many hobbies and wonderful attributes, but her love and passion in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a servant's heart; she took nothing and gave everything for her family. All of those who entered her home never left without sharing a meal, love and laughter. Irene's presence, smile and giving spirit will be missed by all her loved her dearly.

Those left to remember and cherish her memories are her children, Frank Medrano and his wife Greta of McKinney, Texas, Alma Delia Norwood and her husband Douglas of Friona, Texas, Dora Alicia Mendiola and her husband Manuel, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Fernando Medrano and his wife Halli of Gainesville, Texas, Vicente "Vince" Medrano and his wife Joy of Plantation, Florida, and Irene Kristi Medrano of McKinney, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Vicente and Rosa (Garcia) Gomez, eleven siblings including her twin sister, Maria.
