Howell Eugene Baldwin, "Eugene", 80, of Granbury, Texas, was taken home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 5:45 pm, at his home in Granbury surrounded by his loving family. To everyone that knew Eugene they would say that his most undeniable trait was his devotion to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where he is so graciously being held in his arms.

A grave side memorial is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11 am at West Park Cemetery with Rev Bob Dean officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Eugene was born on January 24, 1943, in Lorenzo, Texas to Rev Byron Howard and Sally Blanche (Keene) Baldwin. He was the youngest of the "magnificent seven" as they were widely known. Eugene married Bonnie (Sparkman) Baldwin on April 26, 1964, in Hereford and was a devoted husband and father for 58 years. He was a resident of Hereford for 29 years where he farmed and ranched and raised his children. He later moved to Euless, Texas and worked as an outside salesman for Lone Star Plywood and Door as an outside salesman where he was the number one salesman in the company for several years. Later he drove a semi truck over the road and eventually made his home in Granbury, Texas. When he finally retired, he kept busy as a substitute teacher and school bus driver for Godley, Texas where he was named the PCAT statewide bus driver of the year 2015-2016 for the state of Texas. Eugene touched many lives by being a Godly man and many of the students he saw grow up during his teaching and driving years have thanked him for the great example he set.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Bonnie Baldwin of Granbury Texas, his daughter Robin Baldwin-Diller and her husband Joseph Diller of Granbury, his son Brett Baldwin of Hereford, 3 sisters, Mary of Dallas, Wynelle of Denton and Olagene of Clear Lake, 3 brothers, Robert and Darold of Amarillo and Godfrey of Georgetown, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as cherished canine companions Taco and Sam.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Following the graveside service, there will be a time for visitation for family and friends from 2-5 pm, at Frio Baptist Church. Frio Baptist Church is located on FM Road 1055 seven miles south of Hereford.
