Guadalupe "Lupe" Mata Villarreal, 77, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Denny Snead officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin on Monday, December 20, 2021, from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Lupe was born September 23, 1944, in Munday, Texas, to Reymundo Mata and Antonia Madrigal. Lupe married the love of her life, Hector Manuel Villarreal on August 17, 1963. While Lupe never completed her high school education, she aspired for more. She eventually was able to achieve her GED and even continue on to achieve Bachelor of Education as well as Master of Education degree from West Texas State University. She served as an educator for 30₊ years. Throughout her life she espoused the importance of education to all her family and friends. Lupe loved 50's music, travel and all things Elvis Presley. She has traveled to all 50 states and several countries. Lupe loved reading in general but especially her Bible. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ, where she was baptized in 2019. She remained a faithful and devout member to her church. Lupe will be dearly missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Hector Villarreal of Hereford, her children Connie Mendoza and her husband Joe of Hereford, Dr. Randy Villarreal and his husband Doug Preston of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and Mitzi Madrigal of Lubbock. Also her siblings Carmel Rodriguez of Kyle, Texas, MaryLou Bonney and her husband Orlando of Clovis, NM., Lucy Madrigal, Delores Madrigal and Connie Madrigal all of Amarillo, Patricia Mata of San Antonio, Louis (Raul) Mata of El Paso, Ernest Madrigal and his wife Beatrice of Amarillo, Rey Mata of Edinberg, Texas, Reynaldo Mata and his wife Angela of McAllen, Texas, and Reymundo Mata, Jr. of Texas; 4 grandchildren John Michael Mendoza, Jeremy Mendoza, Celeste Salas and Noah Madrigal.

Lupe is preceded in death by her parents Reymundo Mata and Antonia Madrigal, a sister Angie Piña, 2 brothers Leon and Antonio Madrigal and 2 grandchildren Vanessa and LeeRoy.
