Gonzalo "Chalo" Melendez, 55 of Hereford passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017. Family and friend visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00AM-9:00PM at the funeral home. Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home is handling funeral and cremation arrangements.

Gonzalo was born December 10, 1961 in Mexico to Gavino and Maria (Aguirre) Melendez. Gonzalo has been a resident of Hereford since 1988. He worked for a feed yard in Hereford for 18 years. He enjoyed welding, and listening to music. He was a man of few words but had a very caring and loving spirit.

Those left to cherish Gonzalo's memories are his brothers and sister, Celso Melendez, Chris Melendez, Genero Melendez all of Dimmitt; Francisco Melendez of Plainview, Monse Melendez of Mexico, Alfredo Melendez of El Paso and a sister Ramona Melendez de Luna of Alamogordo, NM., and his life partner, Julia Chavez of Hereford.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Socorro Melendez and Jose Luis Melendez and a sister, Bertha Ybarra.
