Gilberto R. Rodriguez, 87, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant David Contreras officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 2:00-8:00 PM with rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Gilberto was born on July 12, 1937, in Knippa, Texas, to Ishmael and Anita (Ramirez) Rodriguez. He has been a resident of Hereford, Texas, for 60 plus years. He married the love of his life, Elvira Reyes in 1959. Gilberto was a rancher for Gerald McCathern for 10-15 years; he later went to work for Excel in their maintenance department for over 50 years. Gilberto enjoyed farming, fishing, playing his guitar, but his most loved enjoyment was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Gilberto was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and was a Knights of Columbus member. He rejoiced in helping his church and church family in many ways. Gilberto's presence, smile and laughter will be missed by all who loved him.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Ramsey Rodriguez of Hereford, Gilbert Mike Rodriguez of Hereford, Rosemary Soliz and her husband Raymundo of Amarillo, Susan Rodriguez of Hereford, Betty Lira and her husband Armando of Hereford, Israel Rodriguez and his wife Veronica of Amarillo, and Robert Rodriguez and his wife Sandra of Hereford; 40 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Gilberto will be joining his parents, his wife, Elvira Rodriguez and his sister and five brothers in heaven.
