Gilberto G. Aguero, 97, of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 in Hereford. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Alvarado officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. The Aguero Family has asked that everyone attending the funeral service to please wear a mask provided by you. Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1:30-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Gilberto was born February 5, 1923 in Ballinger, Texas to Gilberto, Sr. and Juana (Gallegos) Aguero. Gilberto has been a resident of Hereford since 1945. He worked for Oasis and McCluskey Cotton Gin in Seminole for several years before making Hereford his home; while in Hereford he worked for a construction company, drove a produce truck, worked in a restaurant, worked as a maintenance man at the Hereford Country Club and worked for a crop spraying company. Gilberto loved music, gathering with his family and grandchildren, especially on holidays. He enjoyed working in his yard and had a green thumb for all types of flowers, especially his rose bushes, and plants. He even grew a beautiful apricot tree and shared his apricots with many family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children Esperanza Buentello and her husband Aviel of Hereford, Esmeralda Condarco, Rosemary Ramirez and her husband John all of Hobbs, N.M., Jose Aguero of Lubbock and Flor Estella Espinosa of Hereford; a sister Viviana Borgas of Plainview, 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 22 great-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Herminia Aguero and two sisters Frances Archuletta and Delores A.
