Gerardo Alvarado, 49, of Hereford, Texas passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church in the Hall at 2:00 PM with Celebrant Ramon Molina, burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin Tuesday from 1:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Rosary will be Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Gerardo was born October 16, 1970 in Durango, Mexico to Lucio Ramirez Renteria and Maria de los Angeles Alvarado. Gerardo has been a resident of Hereford since 1995 and has been employed with Merrick Pet Food since 1995. He married Elisa Zapata on April 19, 2015. Gerardo was a member of La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church of Hereford, Texas. Gerardo enjoyed watching soccer and football, singing, being outdoors, woodworking, but his greatest love was his family.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Elisa Zapata of Hereford, Texas; his parents Lucio Ramirez Renteria and Maria de los Angeles Alvarado both of Durango, Mexico; two daughters Yulisa Armendariz and her husband Noeel and Janet Ramirez all of Hereford, Texas; one son Alexander Ramirez of Hereford, Texas; one grandson Yahir Armendariz of Hereford, Texas; two sisters Lorena Mercado and her husband Andres and Celene Ramirez all of Durango, Mexico and four brothers Rolando Ramirez and his wife Aide of Hereford, Texas, Rigoberto Ramirez and his wife Gabriela, Jesus Ramirez and his wife Reyna and Freddy Ramirez and his wife Marissa all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Gerardo is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eulalio Alvarado Tinoco and his paternal grandparents Jesus Ramirez Rosale and Herminia Renteria Vasquez
