George Raymond Wilhelm, 87, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Hereford surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, in the gymnasium, with Father Grant Spinhirne as celebrant.

Vigil Service and Rosary will be on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford.

George was born on November 21, 1938, in Hereford, Texas, to Raymond and Agnes (Seiger) Wilhelm. After graduating from Hereford High School in 1957, he served in the United States Army Reserve, he was in the active reserve from 1962 - 1967. He met Anita Fischbacher at a wedding dance, and they married on October 29, 1962. Together, they shared 63 blessed years of marriage.

George was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the American Legion. He also served as an officer and Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

George worked as a mechanic, farmer, and rancher. He loved working on tractors and tinkering with anything that needed repair. His other interests included riding, repairing, and building motorcycles, playing dominoes, and sharing stories. Patient, friendly, and easygoing, George was always willing to help others.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Agnes Wilhelm, sister Jane George, and brother Joe Wilhelm.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Anita Wilhelm of Hereford, Texas; children, Nathan Wilhelm, Gwen Betzen and husband Jerry, Albert Wilhelm and wife Melissa all of Hereford, Texas; and Diane Collier and husband Colton of Dublin, Texas; six grandchildren, Sarah Wilhelm (Andrew Porras), Matthew Wilhelm (Alisha), Renae Lancaster (Austin), Rachel Betzen, Daniel Betzen, and Lizzy Collier; two great grandsons, Logan Lancaster and Arlo Porras; and one great grandson on the way; sisters, Beatrice Nishimuta of Blairsville, Georgia, and Cecilia Hines of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Catherine Fishbacher of Canyon, Texas, Mary Brorman of Vega, Texas, and Bonnie Wilhelm Toothaker of Amarillo, Texas; and brother-in-law Joe Fishbacher and wife Glennis of Canyon, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made in honor of George to the St. Anthony's Endowment Fund; 114 Sunset Dr., Hereford, Texas 79045.
