George Ramirez, 87, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in Hereford, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at San Jose Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M., with Father Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Viewings and Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 1:00 – 7:00 P.M., Monday, March 27, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M., and Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 8:00 A.M. – 1:30 P.M. Rosary/ Vigil Service will be on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

George was born on August 24, 1935, in Karnes County, Texas, to Alonzo and Maria (Balsaldua) Ramirez. He has been a resident of Hereford since 1956. George married his one true love, Otilia Rodriguez; they shared more than fifty years together before her passing. George worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant and as a Tree Trimmer in Hereford. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. George enjoyed going to Stripes to drink coffee with his friends, being outside, raising farm animals, fixing cars, and fixing anything and everything else. He was a hardworking, independent, stubborn man who loved his family, grandchildren, and especially his babies, the great-grandchildren. George was a good father and the best grandpa.

Those left to cherish his memories are granddaughter Olga Rios of Hereford, Texas; daughters, Alma Ramirez and her husband Miguel Camacho of Hereford, Texas, Mary Carillo and her husband Rodrigo of Pomona, California, Juanita Garza and her husband Joe of Grand Prairie, Texas; sons, Augustine Ramirez of Hereford, Texas, and Juan Ramirez and his wife Janet of Hereford, Texas; nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Ramirez and his wife Gayle of Huntsville, Alabama, Fred Ramirez and his wife Sylvia of Amarillo, Texas; sisters, Antonia Easter and her husband Terry of Amarillo, Texas, and Lola Ramirez of San Antonia, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Maria Ramirez, wife Otilia Ramirez, sons Junior Ramirez and Ramiro Ramirez, daughter Juanita Ramirez, brothers Alonzo Ramirez and Beto Ramirez, and a sister Lupe Pesina.
