Fred Batterman, 85, of Hereford, Texas formerly of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Joe Wall officiating, burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt, Texas. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Fred was born on October 22, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Andrew Seward and LaVada Wilson (Breshears) Batterman. Fred has been a resident of Hereford for 4 years, moving from Dimmitt where he resided since he was 19 years old. Fred married Betty Kropff on November 20, 1970 in Hereford, Texas. He worked for Am Star in Dimmitt for several years and was a welder for most of his adult life; Fred was also self-employed building garden sheds and metal buildings until his retirement at the age of 62. Fred was a member of the Lee St. Baptist Church of Dimmitt and later moving his membership to Avenue Baptist Church of Hereford, Texas. Fred loved playing golf and reading his bible. He and Betty traveled after his retirement to many places. They were sure to travel to places that had wonderful golf courses; from Texas to California, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia and many other states.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Betty Batterman of Hereford, TX., his siblings Juanita Plunk of Little Elm, Texas, Bob Batterman and his wife Ruby of Beatrice, Nebraska, Gene Batterman and his wife Helmi of Hereford, Texas, Linda Phillips and her husband Ralph of Amarillo, Texas and Sandra Stotts and her husband Bob of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents Andrew Seward and LaVada Wilson Batterman and numerous uncles and aunts.
