Florinda "Grandma" Garcia, 79, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony's Cemetery with Pastor Bernie Yedor officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 3:00-8:00 PM and the rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Florinda was born on July 21, 1945, in Elsa, Texas, to Francisco and Francisca DeLeon. Florinda met and married the love of her life, Hector G. Garcia, on December 7, 1968, and together they had a beautiful life and five wonderful children. She and her late husband, Hector G. Garcia, were residents of Hereford, Texas, since 1972. Florinda was always known for being the best caretaker for not only her family but many others. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, so many family favorites, capirotada, stuffed peppers, chicken and mole, enchiladas, and her homemade tortillas; cross stitching, gardening, her roses in front of her house, crossword puzzles and going to Wal-Mart to try on hats. Florinda enjoyed life, never allowing her aches and pains to get in the way of a good time. She loved her family and cherished her time with them always; she delighted herself in joking with her grandchildren. She was always the life of the party, never a dull moment with "Grandma". Florinda's presence, laughter, smile and fun times will be missed by all her loved her dearly.

Those left behind to remember and cherish her memories are her children, Martha Garcia of Bowie, Texas, Melissa Cantu of Hereford, Texas, Cynthia Barragan and her husband Amalio of Lubbock, and Margarita Sturgeon and her husband Edward of Georgia; 13 grandchildren, Samantha Moon, Joshua Moon, Maricela Guerrero, Hector Guerrero, Ryan Cantu, Alyssa Cantu, Lorena Davilia, Xavier Barragan, Jeremiah Fuentes, Jasmine Barragan, Sophia Sturgeon, Miles Sturgeon and Finn Sturgeon; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rosa DeLeon of Dallas, Texas, and Anthonia DeLeon of Austin, Texas; 1 brother, Guillermo DeLeon and his wife Brenda of Grand Prairie, Texas, and 2 special nieces.

Florinda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hector G. Garcia, her son, Hector Gerardo Garcia, Jr., and her 5 siblings, Viola Quintanilla, Gloria Lopez, Ismael DeLeon, Leonel DeLeon and Sulema DeLeon.
