Florestela "Flo" Rodriguez, aged 65, passed away surrounded by her devoted husband of 42 years and her loving children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at San Jose Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M., with Father Ricardo Zanetti officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery. A visitation and viewing will take place on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM and Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM -3:00 PM at the funeral home. On Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 6:00 PM, a Rosary will be held at San Jose Catholic Church. The Rodriguez family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Born on January 1, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas, Florestela was the cherished daughter of George Hamer and Aurora Garcia. Florestela made her home in Hereford, where she encountered her soulmate on a warm, summer day in June of 1978 at the San Jose Jamaica. Juan DeDios Rodriguez was immediately captivated, and in 1979, he sought Florestela's hand in marriage. They became united on January 23, 1981, and together they nurtured a beautiful family, imparting countless valuable lessons to their children while prioritizing their service to the Lord.

Florestela was graced with a remarkable aptitude for singing and playing the saxophone, serving for 41 years devoting herself to the San Jose Choir. Known for her generous, forgiving, and humble spirit, she also exhibited an exceptional work ethic, dedicating 38 years to the Postal Service, dutifully serving the Hereford community. She cherished moments with her grandchildren and family, and took pleasure in collecting stamps and old coins, generously giving without seeking recognition. Florestela will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Those entrusted with the treasured memories of Florestela's beautiful life include her devoted husband, Juan DeDios Rodriguez, Sr. of Hereford, Texas; her caring children, Christopher Andrew Martinez and his wife Elena, Rachael Rodriguez Gutierrez and her husband Victor, Juan DeDios Rodriguez, Jr., all of Hereford, Texas, and Amariah Garcia Rodriguez of Austin, Texas. Florestela is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Victor Fabian Gutierrez, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, Andrew Scott Garcia Rodriguez, Baby Garcia Rodriguez, Ayden John Garcia Rodriguez, all of Austin, Texas, Avery Neveah Rodriguez of Lubbock, Texas, Adelaida Gutierrez, and Gabriela Gutierrez, all of Hereford, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings: Maria Bowen and her husband Norman of Idaho, Jose Luis Venegas of Austin, Texas, and Pedro Venegas, Jr. and his wife Jody of Ohio.

Preceding Florestela in passing are her parents, Pedro Venegas, Sr., and Aurora (Garcia) Venegas.
