Florentino Sosa, 87, of Hereford formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 AM at La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church of Hereford with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Rosary will be Wednesday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Florentino was born July 5, 1931 in Durango, Mexico to Jesus and Antonia (Gutierrez) Sosa. Florentino has been a resident of New Mexico most of his adult life and has been here in Hereford for a few short months. Florentino was a farmer and rancher all his life. He attended La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church of Hereford. He enjoyed farming, ranching, and all the farm animals. Florentino was a very hard-working man, loved his family and family gatherings and his children say, "he was a great dad."

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Amelia Sosa of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five sons Abel Sosa and his wife Margarita, Jesus Sosa and his wife Andrea, Uriel Sosa and his wife Claudia and Ulises Sosa and his wife Nidia all of Hereford and Florentino Sosa, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Albuquerque, New Mexico; seven daughters Georgina Sosa and her husband Ernesto Saenz, Mireya Sosa and her husband Emilio Barron and Mariana Sosa and her husband Alfredo Rey all of Mexico, Estella Sosa and her husband Sabino Gallardo of Perryton, Eloina Sosa and her husband Juvenal Medina and Antonia Sosa and her husband Matias Navarrete all of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Amelia Sosa and her husband Ramon Sanchez of Liberal, Kansas; two brothers Ruben Sosa and his wife Cuca and Eliseo Sosa all of Mexico and two sisters Rosa Sosa and her husband Antonio Acosta and Elvira Sosa all of Mexico; 41 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Florentino is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Hortencia Sosa.
