Fidel Vigil, 68, a lifelong resident of Hereford passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 in Amarillo. Mass of a Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina, burial to follow at Saint Anthony's Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services and arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A rosary will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Everyone attending the rosary and the funeral service must wear a mask provide by you. The funeral home will only allow 50 people in the funeral home at any one given time. Your safety and health matter to us.

Fidel was born on January 16, 1952 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Tony and Erenes (Gomez) Vigil. He grew up farming and attended school at Hereford High School and graduated, class of 1971. He met the love of his life, Angie Valdez, and they were married in 1972. Fidel was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1975.Fidel's family was his world. He attended as many of his children and grandchildren's functions as he could, and he was very proud them all. He not only enjoyed watching his grandchildren but also showed his love and support to their other teammates. He was everyone's #1 fan. He enjoyed fishing, outdoor outings, music, and dancing. He had a lifelong love of horses which created wonderful memories for his children and grandchildren. Fidel built strong family values and was highly thought of by his family and many friends. We will remember his great smile and beautiful heart. Fidel loved his Lord Jesus Christ, and we know he is celebrating with Him in heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Tony and Erenes Vigil, his brother; Ray Vigil and two sisters; Nancy and Suzie Vigil.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Vigil of Hereford, his daughter, Amanda Vigil of Amarillo, his sons, Albert Vigil and his wife Connie of Hereford and Anthony Vigil and his wife Mandy of Lubbock, siblings, Mary Vigil, Joe Vigil and his wife Kathy, Manuel Vigil and his wife Helen, Johnny Vigil, Jessie Lee Vigil and his wife Marisol all of Las Vegas, New Mexico, grandchildren,  Clarysse and her husband Adrian of Lubbock, AJ, Kenyon and Koriana, two great grandchildren, Keagen and Savannah, brother and sisters-in- law, Chopo and Adela Moreno, Diana and Joe DeLeon, Javier Valdez, Viva Valdez, Mary Valdez and Filemon Valdez.
